Bob Hardy just wrapped up an exciting weekend! After a 1,000-km drive in his new Toyota Corolla Cross, where he averaged an impressive 6.8 liters per 100 km—even with lots of climbing—he jumped right into a race walk training session. Why the long drive? To pick up his daughter, Leah, from North Bay and show off his new wheels!

From a 1,000-km Drive to a Training Session!
Reflecting on his journey, Bob shared a similar experience from 20 years ago when he rode his bicycle 1,000 km at an average speed of 26.6 kph, all to show off his new bike and shed some pounds. It seems the motivation hasn’t changed much—just the mode of transportation!
Despite feeling tired after the drive, Bob hit the Glen Robertson Road for his usual 5-km training session on October 6th. Here are the stats from his workout:
Distance: 5 km
Time: 43 minutes and 28 seconds
Speed: 7 kph
Average Heart Rate: 139 bpm
Maximum Heart Rate: 175 bpm
Bob’s commitment to staying active, even after long journeys, showcases his determination to overcome challenges and maintain a healthy lifestyle. It’s all part of the journey before and after leukemia, and he wouldn’t have it any other way!
