Overcoming Obstacles – Part VI: Parkinson’s
After conquering leukemia, cancer, blood clots, and a devastating walker crash, Bob Hardy now faces a new challenge — Parkinson’s disease. But as always, he refuses to let it stop him.
Still training daily, Bob keeps both body and mind active — walking 4 km downtown and back, maintaining flexibility through physiotherapy, and keeping his spirit sharp by writing and creating new projects. His latest? A satirical stage play, Robin Hood 900 Years After — a witty, thought-provoking look at technology, power, and human folly through medieval eyes.
“Keeping the mind active is part of the therapy,” says Bob. “If I’m not racing, I’m writing.”
With his Trionic racing walker by his side, he continues to prepare for what’s ahead — still considering the Ottawa Race Weekend and the Canadian Transplant Games in 2026.
Now
Bucket List #5 isn’t about the past. It’s about proving once again that getting older doesn’t mean slowing down. It means finding a new gear.
Because obstacles are meant to be overcome — one step, one story, one race at a time.
